Split Pea Soup

Does anyone know if Split Pea Soup is a good lunch as a post op? I really like it, but it's hard for me to tell how they make it if I just buy it out of a large crockpot at the store. Any idea of protien content?

This is what FitDay has for nutritional info:

This is listed as split pea with ham, condensed, commercial:

Nutrition Facts

Amount Per 1 cup (8 fl oz)
Calories 379.29
Calories from Fat 79.41

% Daily Value *

Total Fat 8.82g 14%
Saturated Fat 3.52g 18%

Potassium 798.93mg 23%

Total Carbohydrate 55.98g 19%
Dietary Fiber 4.57g 18%

Protein 20.66g 41%

But THIS is what they have for generic split pea (no ham):

Nutrition Facts

Amount Per 1 cup
Calories 165
Calories from Fat 26.32

% Daily Value *

Total Fat 2.92g 5%
Saturated Fat 1.4g 7%

Potassium 190mg 5%

Total Carbohydrate 26.5g 9%

Bottom line, I think you need to ask the store for nutritional info on their product. I think they usually buy in a frozen bag, and it should be listed on their packaging somewhere.

Re: This is what FitDay has for nutritional info:

This was hand made and had tomato in it and just a little bit of lean ham. I'm going to say somewhere in between these two, so I should be ok calorie wise, but maybe need another protien drink today to get in enough.

Thanks for looking it up!

You are welcome. I love fitday for this stuff. Gives me a at least a general stab at what I am doing.

Oddly enough, I can't keep that stuff down -STILL (5+ yrs later).
